About Mike…

Hello and thanks for stopping by my website!

I’m Mike Fraser, Owner and Design Consultant of Unionville Media. I’ve been a graphic designer for most of my adult life and have been involved with many wonderful companies providing design services for both online and print. During my professional journey, I have worn many hats, including graphic designer, photographer, videographer, prepress specialist, printshop owner, art director, creative director and the list goes on. So nowadays I put all that grey matter to use and call it Visual Design Services.

Originally a California native, I moved to Unionville a few years ago. Unionville is a wonderful small town in Connecticut, so when trying to pick a name for my new company the town gave me the inspiration.

My website is my extended portfolio - I try to cover every aspect of my professional experience here. If you have the time, please read the commentaries provided with each of the projects. They will give you an impression of my thought processes and intentions with the work of design.

Below are some FAQs with additional information. If you have any other questions or would like a quotation on your project, feel free to use this Contact Form to reach out to me.

Photography - including: people, products, services or places both indoor and outdoor.

Video Editing - I am most effective in story-telling, product demonstration, “how-to” productions and highlight reels.

  • You can use the RFP form on my website, here is the link: RFP Form
You can attach any relevant files (jpg, pdf or word doc) as well.

  • I can travel anywhere in the continental US but do not prefer to travel outside of it. All travel expenses and lodging if required must be reimbursed at the time of the initial project deposit.

  • If you are an Agency or Design Firm and have overflow work on an ongoing basis but do not want to hire for a full time position, yes I would consider engaging in contract work under an independent contractor agreement.

  • No, because this business is how I make a living.

  • I can prepare designs for social media integration, but I do not manage any social media as a service. I can interface with your social media person and provide any imagery or video that is requested.

  • This question comes up often when working with agencies or marketing departments so it does need to be addressed. I work in a Windows environment and use the following programs in my daily activities:

Adobe Creative Suite (2025) for design I use Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat. for video editing I use Premiere Pro.

Microsoft Office Suite (2025) including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

For audio editing and voice-over creation I use
Cubase 12 as a DAW and Mastering software.

  • I do design simple websites such as the one you are looking at now, but I do not write code. If you need a simple company website to highlight your product or service I may be able to help. However if you require automation or advanced scripting then I would not be the right fit for that.

  • No, I am primarily a visual designer, but I can work with your developer to provide graphic elements if needed.

  • For face to face meetings I prefer meeting at a clients location.
I work out of my home office in Unionville, CT.

  • Yes, it is a great way to be more immersive with a client exchange, and can include multiple participants. I can join any meeting invite.

  • Generally I do not, as a graphic designer I can participate in marketing discussions but I feel I am best utilized as a facilitator of ideas, bringing them to life visually. My strength is in graphic and visual design.

  • This is a good question. Perhaps you might need an intermediary between your department and an outside agency for technical reasons or just to have an experienced eye to lend a hand in the decision making. I am available as a consultant for design work and vendor management (printing or publishing).

  • My standard terms are: 50% deposit upon acceptance of a proposal with the remaining balance due upon completion of the project. If doing ongoing work as an independent contractor (such as work for an Agency or Design Firm) I am willing to bill the projects on a net 30 basis with provided signatures. However, the first project needs to be under my standard terms to establish creditability.
